Still a Place
Woke up early, and I'm feeling fine
Slept like a log out in the virgin pines.
These trees were standing when Shakespeare was born,
And, they'll be growing long after I'm gone.
Chorus:
There is still a place where rivers flow,
And still a place where eagles go.
Still a place you'll hear the native tongue.
Still a place where trees grow tall,
And still a place where loons can call,
And there is still a chance, just as long,
As there is still a place.
Crossed the water to the other side.
Started telling time by the tide.
We lit a campfire down by the shore.
Wild tea and bannock, who could ask for more?
Chorus:
There is still a place where people live,
With nature's gifts and learn to give.
Still a place where mail comes by canoe.
Still a place where neighbours know,
Their neighbours' names and where they go,
And there is still a chance just as long,
As there is still a place.
Looking back on everywhere I've been,
Looking back on everything I've seen.
Searching for answers in far distant parts,
Only to find them back here at the start.
Chorus:
There is still a place within us all,
That loves to hear the eagle's call.
Still a place that comes from long ago.
Still a place that knows that we, are part of everything we see.
And there is still a chance just as long,
As there is still a place.
